2010 Holiday Season Report Highlights
- December 13, 2010 Three important events marked this Monday K-Mart, CircuitCity and CompUSA experienced similar problems at almost the same time. All of their sites were reachable and their carts were functioning properly, but at checkout all of them failed unexpectedly with a "500 Internal server Error". This problem lasted for several hours and was resolved in the early hours of the day. The downtime periods were as follows:
- K-Mart - from 01:47am to 04:28am;
- CircuitCity - from 03:22am to 07:38am;
- CompUSA - from 03:17am to 07:37am.
The other monitored websites included into the 2010 Holiday Season report performed normally. - November 30, 2010 This Cyber Monday was marked by two notable events - for both CircuitCity and CompUSA our system recorded high loading times from 10:15 PM to 11:30 PM. The detected errors were timeouts, which were most likely caused by high load on the servers at this time. The other monitored websites included into the 2010 Holiday Season report performed normally.
- November 29, 2010 Much to our surprise, the downtime percentage has risen on the day after the Black Friday. The shopping cart system of BestBuy went down from 3AM till 5AM making the shop unusable to the clients. Keeping in mind that the downtime has occurred in the early hours of the day, we suppose that the reason for this outage is a maintenance rather than an overload of the shop.
The daily Average Response time from all monitored websites was 3.504 sec.; the daily Average Uptime - 99.07%
- November 27, 2010 This Black Friday everything appears to be better than last year - from the economic outlook to the perfromance of the sites. Apparently, this year the retailers have learned their lesson and on Black Friday the uptime of all monitored sites hit 99.99%. In comparison, at the same time last year Kmart were forced to close their site for non-US customers in order to handle the high volume of traffic. Short outages plagued most of the other sites as well.
