HTTPD / Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Daemon


HTTPD stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Daemon which is another name for a web server. It is a computer program which listens for and accepts HTTP requests, and serves back HTTP responses which are usually HTML pages and the resources they refer to like images, style sheets etc.
